From Dark to Light...
Here are the befores of our dark and dingy now bright and cheery rec room. Although a fight as to what the room would actually be used for, I think we made a wonderful compromise (see the afters in the other post).
It will be the fun room and eventually we will add a bar...no pool table, but there will be lots of games watched on our new tv :)! Enjoy!

Not a "rec" anymore!
So we're much further along in our rec room! No more dark wood! We are so excited how it has turned out. There is still a lot to do, but we're getting there. Here is the current state :)!
I'll post the before pictures soon, but let me tell you. It's come a VERY long way...
One thing we have to do, is cover that hideous A/C unit that is living in the center of the wall. We have some ideas, so we'll see how it turns out...stay tuned!

GE Never Looked So Good!
Well, we have only a few finishing touches left on in the newly painted office, and soon enough I'll have before and after pics, but for now....how about a sneak peak?
Enjoy!!
Paint, paint and more paint...
Whew! What a weekend!
I have never done so much painting in my life! Our paneled wall office took over my life this past week. I started with the painting last week and today FINALLY finished it all up. As if it isn't hard enough painting paneling, it isn't easy trying to paint with 2 80lb weimeraners running around sticking their noses into everything, literally (see exhibit A).
Exhibit A:
Yes, that is paint on Rhett's nose, from where he pushed his way through the door I was painting...
In addition to dodging dogs, I was playing assistant wiring technician to Gregory (see exhibit B):

Yes, that's the hubby being the main wiring technician, running speaker wires through the attic for the new speaker system he just purchased. Please pay no attention to all the other stuff in that room, it's kinda the catch all room at the moment until we are able to disperse it all...
And to finish off the night, we started painting the rec room (exhibit c):
So apparently I like to start and end my day with painting...I think I might start my own business!!Happy Sunday!

Worn out...
We all lost a very, very dear friend yesterday...
Dr. Gene Sires was such a wonderful man and always a joy to be around. He always made you feel like the most special person in the world. We all loved him so much and will miss him tremendously. Gregory and I send our hearts out to the Sires' family and will be praying for them.
Dr. Sires was 59 years. old. That's him on the left with me and Mr. Hank Legare.

Let there be light!
Ok, so I am going in no particular order in terms of befores/afters...I'll just post as I take the pictures :).
This was another one of Gregory's "Wild Hairs" and apparently on his "to-do first" list. (I later found out it was because he wanted the original light for his new shed...)
So after ripping off the old light, realizing it needed a box in order to mount the new light, buying a box to mount the light, mounting the new light, and FINALLY taping and painting around the newly mounted light...WHA-LA! We had a bright, new, fancy light! And we love it. So here are the before, during and afters...

The Yard....
So we've moved in and we are working on our projects.
There were so many "firsts" to consider, so we just started doing things as they popped into our heads. So after my awesome father-in-law (and mother-in-law) came up and cut down our forest of bushes; Gregory got a wild hair and decided to take down the horrible stable fences that served no purpose at all. So, without further ado...
Here's the Before (Pre-awesome FIL/MIL and Gregory):
AND, Here's the after (Post-awesome FIL/MIL and Gregory):

We've Moved!!

It's been a while...
Hey guys! It's been a while since my last post. Things have just been crazy these last few weeks. But I realized that I hadn't updated you guys on the bookshelf decor. We'll since we are staging our house for a sale, this piece was moved into our kitchen. So it now houses kitchen items and I think it's great! Here's a pic...
I'm not sure where we'll put it in the new house, but I know it's gonna look great where ever we decide.
I'd love to post pictures of our new house, but it's not final till the 10th of September, but as soon as it is, I'll post all kinds!
Until next time...

Snug as a bug...
Easy, Breezy!
Happy Sunday Everyone!
Sorry for the lack of posts this past week; work is just taking over! I didn't hit up the yard sales or the flea market this weekend due to poor weather, but I was able to incorporate some of my finds from last week into my decor!
Remember the other "mystery item" I told you that I got last week? Well it was a bookshelf that needed a fresh coat of paint and some new hardware. So I did just that and this is the final product!
You only see from the middle down because I don't have anything on the top shelf :). It's still a work in progress, so stay tuned...
Also, remember the sepia toned picture of the Angel Oak I found at YS for $5.00? Well I went frame shopping yesterday and found one that worked just perfectly! Hung it in the bathroom and wha-la! Presto! We had instant artwork, and boy does it look great!

So that's all for decorating in the Hixson house... now it's off to get the house in order so we can put it on the market and find get a bigger place!

Give me a rake!
The Ying-Yang Twins
So, I found this great, brand new LL Bean dog bed at a YS yesterday (the cover was still in the wrapper!) and I brought it home for the boys. They were a little reluctant, but after we all settled down last night, I found this...
They are always tired on the weekends. However, I'm sure Duke was especially tired because earlier that day he found the entire bag of tennis balls we had stashed away in the shed (we call it Duke cocaine). We were busy painting when we looked out and saw this...

Yes, that's him realzing he just got caught! That boy gets into everything! We don't know what we are going to do with him...
I hope everyone's having a happy Sunday! More posting tomorrow :)!
