Eggs, Bunnies and Candy!

Since we didn't go home for Easter (or get any eggs, bunnies or candy), we decided to do our own Easter meal :)! So we put our cooking gloves on and made a delicious Easter dinner! I must say, we didn't do too bad....

Our Fried Turkey...

Our yummy ham...

The boys waiting patiently for something to make it's way to the floor...

Stay tuned for the kitchen reveal!

Are we in Venice???

No, but it's sure feels like it with our new granite countertops! It's called New Venican Gold and boy is it BEEE-U-TEE-FUL!! I can't wait to get it all completed. Here are a few teaser pics.

We are still working on our cabinet doors, but hopefully we'll have them finished soon! Enjoy!

Man, You Need a Facelift!

So to save some money (and because our cabinets were in really good shape) we have decided to just give our cabinets a little face lift. So for a simple update, we decided to add a little bit of lattice molding. We'll paint them and add new hardware and they should be good as new!

So here is the before:

Here are the durings:

But be patient for the afters, these little suckers take some serious time! :)

We have Monsters in our Kitchen!!

Well not really, but our new fridge/freezer set sure are big and scary, but I LOVE 'EM!

This is the before of what our poor little fridge and freezer used to look like...

And, this is the after!!! I know, I know, they are huge, but they are awesome. So, after several painful hours of measuring, remeasuring, thinking of a frame, cutting, measuring and finally putting on the last piece of molding, they are in and working! (Looks like Gracin wanted to get in the picture too :)!)

Now, it's time for the rest of the remodel...new countertops, refacing the cabinet doors and a putting up tile backsplash. Stay tuned for more posts :)!

Day 2 - Kitchen Update!

So it was day 2 of the kitchen update yesterday and we're making room for the monsters (see below)!

So out with the jigsaw, circular saw, and any other kind of saw needed for cabinet demo and this section of the kitchen has gone from this:

To this:

We have to build a frame and make it look pretty, but I think once it's completed, it will look wonderful! Stay tuned for the afters :)!

Kitchen Update....Day 1

Well, it was demo day in the Hixson household! The hubs and I got started tearing out the oldly shaped kitchen passthrough. So it's all torn out, now we have to put it back together.

This is the before:

And the durings:

So that's it for now! We hope to do some more tomorrow, so keep checking...

Let there be light!

Ok, so I am going in no particular order in terms of befores/afters...I'll just post as I take the pictures :).

This was another one of Gregory's "Wild Hairs" and apparently on his "to-do first" list. (I later found out it was because he wanted the original light for his new shed...)

So after ripping off the old light, realizing it needed a box in order to mount the new light, buying a box to mount the light, mounting the new light, and FINALLY taping and painting around the newly mounted light...WHA-LA! We had a bright, new, fancy light! And we love it. So here are the before, during and afters...

AFTER:

We think it turned out great! Lots more to do in the kitchen, but the light is a good start!!
